LaTeX Seminar 2020

The Graduate Mathematics Association and the University Math Society will be hosting a LaTeX Seminar on Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m. over Zoom (click for link). LaTeX is the de-facto typesetting system for the publication of scientific and technical documents in several fields, including mathematics, and is a necessary skill for any mathematics graduate or future-graduate student.

In this seminar, we will cover the basics of LaTeX, including the main functionalities and commands, how to display data, and how to format equations in particular environments. We will also briefly cover the features of LaTeX needed to write a paper for publication, including article formatting, bibliographies, and figure and graphic manipulation, including the key packages needed for these tasks (BibTeX, Tikz). We will be live streaming in Overleaf for a portion of the seminar (which is an online LaTeX program), and we ask that you typeset along with us. So, please set up an Overleaf professional account before attending, which is provided free by the University of Florida.
